ENROLMENT

Pre-Enrolment Process

If you are considering enrolling your child at our kura, we recommend making an appointment to support you through the enrolment process and discuss what our procedure involves. Parents are able to pre-enrol future students at anytime from the child's fourth birthday using our online form.

This helps to prepare us for your child's expected start date and ensures we have everything in place for an easy transition into the classroom and our school community. Before your child's expected start date the school office will be in contact with you to schedule an official enrolment meeting with the principal. This meeting is an opportunity for us to learn more about your child, meet the classroom teacher and answer any queries you might have.

Documentation Required:

  • NZ Birth Certificate / Passport or;

    • Immigration documents: Student visa/NZ Residency Permit (if the child is not a NZ citizen)

  • Immunisation Certificate (requested from your family doctor)

  • A copy of any Court Order Documents (if applicable)

Once you have completed the online enrolment form below, please email a copy of all the required documentation to admin@awapuni-primary.school.nz. or bring these into the school office for a copy to be taken. Enrolments can not be processed until all eligibility documents have been provided.

You will not receive an email acknowledging your application until we have received all of the supporting documentation required. Incomplete applications will delay the enrolment process.

New Entrant School Visits

If your child will be starting school for the first time, we suggest contacting the school office at least 6 weeks before their 5th birthday to arrange dates for school visits.

We strongly recommend having 3 visits . This will allow tamariki enough time to familiarise with the classroom environment, get to know their teacher and peers, and settle into the routines of a normal school day.

Visits start at 9:00am and finish at 10:50am before our morning tea break. We ask that parents remain in the classroom for the first visit and encourage their child to engage with the learning and teacher instruction.

Mihi Whakatau / Pōwhiri

As a part of our school policy, we have hold a Pōwhiri or Mihi Whakatau to welcome any new students and their whānau to our school community.

This is usually held on a Monday morning at 8:45am before their first day.
